  • Stomach. It is the hollow organ where food is stored and digested. Its cells produce acids and enzymes that lead to the metabolization of lipids and proteins, among various substances.
  • Small intestine. About 6 meters long, it is the first part of the intestine. It receives secretions from the pancreas and other glands. The enzymes contained, in the end, the digestion of food into simpler molecules, such as amino acidsIt is composed of the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum.
  • Large intestine. It is about one and a half meters long and includes the colon and rectum. It ends with the anus, the last organ through which digestive waste is expelled. It is essential for the absorption of vitamin K, fiber, and water. 

Any of these traits can be altered by poor eating habits or an unhealthy lifestyle. An unbalanced or poor quality diet, the consumption of drugs and alcohol, some medications, and even stress are the cause of various problems. Among the most common are indigestion, constipation, or diarrhea up to chronic diseases.

There are many natural remedies useful for those who prefer not to resort to drugs. Here are some of the most effective.

Improve digestion with herbal teas

Of course, it is always a good choice to ask your doctor for advice. In case of digestive discomfort, however, our grandmothers resorted to herbal teas and other natural preparations that worked very well.

1. Infusion of chamomile

Chamomile has always been considered the digestive herb par excellence. Its essential oils give it digestive, carminative, antispasmodic, and sedative properties. Chamomile is a wonderful plant - it aids digestion, relieves stomach ulcers, and prevents reflux.

How is it prepared?

It is enough to heat a cup of water. As soon as it starts to boil, add 2 grams of chamomile leaves or flowers. Let it rest for 5 minutes with the lid on. Drink it lukewarm after main meals.

2. Cinnamon tea
